Exposure to Aluminum and the Prevalence of Anemia in Communities in Barcarena Pará, Brazil

The city of Barcarena, a major industrial hub, is high demand for mining industry and accidents that involved environmental contamination by heavy metals such as aluminum, subjecting the population to its harmful efFects. Socio-epidemiological data results toxicological hematological tests 124 individuals were analyzed. statistical analysis adopting significance level p < 0.05. Epidemiological indicate majority sample was female (71.1%), residents more than 5 years in region (90.6%), non-workers with and/or (81.3%). In dosage blood, about 93.5% exhibited aluminum intoxication, which due great variability found levels exposure, categorized into following groups; medium-grade ranging from ug/dL 100 ug/dL, level, low detection limit exposure smaller ug/dL. addition, presence anemia 64.5%, 65.2% women 62.5% men. relationship between blood shown mean (p-value 0.0347) well decrease hemoglobin changes hematimetric indices > 0.001). This study observed significant association anemia, reported one indicators toxic action on hematopoietic system, an indicator apparent changes.
